The president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reminded all Ugandans that NRM government started with rehabilitation of infrastructure that had been in shambles but is now putting up new structures across the country.
He cited some of the infrastructures such as roads, electricity, schools, and health centers and the like.
Museveni made the remarks today 25th Dec 2016 while addressing congregation at St Mathew’s Cathedral Kyamate Ntungamo Municipality where he celebrated Christmas and his wife the 1st Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni.
He commended the work being done by Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe for role model in developmental projects since he became bishop in Jan 2012.
The President warned all people to desist from asking free things but instead work for themselves in order for Uganda to attain middle income status by 2020.
The 1st Lady who is also minister of education and sports Janet Kataaha Museveni noted that the country need people who can grow enough food for home consumption and surplus for income.
Ms.Museveni reiterated her call on provision of lunch by parents for their children to study well.

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under
which an inmate died at the incarceration facility.
Emmanuel Turyatemba 35years was found dead inside the police cells
yesterday morning where he had spent the night.
Turyatemba was arrested Tuesday by police after some residents
reported that they heard him claiming that he had information
pertaining that death of Edith Kemigisha.
Edith Kemigisha 63years was murdered by unknown assailants on 22nd
December this year at Kanyinya cell in Ndorero ward southern division
Rukungiri municipality, and his body was discovered on 23rd December.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate says that, when the
deceased reached at police he gave uncoordinated statements because he
was drunk. Police decided to put him is cell and they were shocked to
find him dead by morning.
Maate says that police has started investigation to establish the
suspected cause of his dead since postmortem is not yet done.
IN KANUNGU—-
Police in Kanungu district are investigating circumstances under which
a grandson killed his grandfather over sachet of waragi and was
also lynched by a mob.
Fulgence Bagarukamu 73 years killed from Kinaba sub county Kanungu
district was killed by Jimmy Niwamanya 30years. It’s alleged that on
27th 8:00am in the morning the two left home for drinking spree since
it’s a Christmas festival.
While at a local bar at Kyamukombe trading centre in Kinaba sub county
Kanungu district, the two developed a disagreement, Niwamanya
accusing his grandfather for drinking his sachet of waragi when he
moved out yet he had bought his.
The grandson strangled his grandfather and killed him instantly.
Later the people, who were drinking with them, also lynched Niwamanya
on spot.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate says that police was
notified, visited the place and postmortem was done as investigations
to find people who participated into the second murder continue and be
charged accordingly.
Maate has described the incident as unfortunate for family members to
kill each other and he is calling public to reduce on the rate they
drink on waragi.

Robert Muhereza Korutaro, a son of a fallen Greater Bushenyi 1980 UPC politician MZEE Korutaro who was killed in an accident, yesterday revealed that inter-marriages can avert many more like kasese crisis in the country.
Mr. Muhereza said this during the giveaway ceremony of Shillah Korutaro to Joseph a Rugubala from west Nile.
“The mother of Joseph is a mukiiga, the mother of Shillah was a muganda and the father of shillah was also a munyankole like me, he is my brother such intermarriages averts the kasese like crisis” Muhereza who is the hair of Mzee Korutaro[mzee Korutaro] was pivotal in the UPC party in 1980—1985.
Muhereza who never elaborated on the Kasese crisis noted that the solution for one tribe settling in one part of the country and doing everything alone leads to the fighting aimed at autonomy.
The king of Rwenzuru kingdom and his prime minister and over 300 bakonjo are in prison following killings of police officers and attacks on security installations by royal guards recruited by King Wensly Mumbere. Over 100 innocent Bakanjo lost their lives at the palace on Nov. 27, 2016.

A renowned mobile evangelist from Isingiro district has together with two others been arrested by Ntungamo police following a kidnap of a 5 year old child on Christmas Eve in Ntungamo municipality. The child was recovered dead near his mother’s business in the center of Ntungamo town on Tuesday December 27.
The three were allegedly involved in capturing Aturiheihi Primus 5, a son to Kamusiime Editor who was later killed under unknown circumstances. The captures told the mother that they wanted to sacrifice eth child if she did not heed to their demands.
The Ntungamo district police Commander Mr. Kawonawo Baker says the captors first demanded for a ransom on the head of a child which his mother complied with a demand that they would kill the child if the foster father did not pay the money owed to them after a witchcraft and fortune telling they had done for him.
“The captors asked for UShs 600000 which the woman paid to save the child, they however did not bring the child, we recovered the dead body in a drainage channel near the Ntungamo Banana market rotting off after four days and we highly believe the child was killed immediately he was captured.” Mr. Kawonawo said.
He said the demands for money may have been just a coy to distort information and create time for the alleged killers to escape. He however says police could not rule out child sacrifice.
Pastor Ndyomugyenyi Peterson, Mr. Keneth Buryahika the foster father whom the child and mother were leaving with and Mr. Brian Muhwezi have been arrested by police.
Mr. Kawonawo says police is going to fully investigate the incident and the whole truth behind the killing of the child before the suspects are taken to court.

Uganda’s permanent representative to united nations Dr. Richard Nduhuura in an exclusive interview Dec. 27, 2016 told www.mknewslink.com editor that United nations development program [UNDP]supported a lot the preparations of 2016 elections and the even first ever presidential debates in Uganda.
Amb. Nduhuura whom this editor found at his home noted that the money was used in election civic education, debates among other important elections activities.
He added the UN also concentrated much on setting up the 17 sustainable development goals to replace the eight millennium development goals whose 15 year old period had expired.

The Bishop of Butaare diocese in Rwanda Rt. Rev. Nathan Gasatura has cautioned against sectarianism and fallacies in marriage arguing that only a few things concerned with time, space, and emotions towards individuals in marriage matter than choices from parents.

Police in Rwizi region are investigating the circumstance under which
the Kashongi sub-county community development officer in kiruhura
district was murdered by unknown thugs in Rwemirinzi cell,
Katete ward in Nyamitanga division here in Mbarara municipality.
The murdered is indentified as Isaac Atwiine 45 years a resident of
Rwemirinzi cell, Katete ward in Nyamitanga division here in Mbarara
municipality.
According to police Atwiine was last night cut to death by unknown
thugs and his body was found in a pool of blood, a short distance from
his home.

He adds that investigations into the matter are under way.
Police in kasusu, south division, fort portal municipality Kabarole district have arrested a 20 year old man over defiling an eight year primary two chap girl.
The suspect has been identified as Mumbere Moses, a cattle keeper to Nyaruhuma in kidukuru,south division ,fort portal Kabarole district.
According to police reports, the suspect hijacked the little girl into a bush while he was looking after the cattle of his boss and forcefully had sex with her.
The victim was rushed to a nearby health centre for medications and it was examined that the young girl was defiled.
Surgent,Muhindo Alfred Officer incharge of ,Kasusu police post in south division, fort portal municipality condemned the act and said that the accused will be taken to fort portal police station for further investigations,and if found guility he will be charged according to courts of law over aggrevated defilement.
Surgent Muhindo called upon parents to ensure protection for their children in order to overcome such catastrophies.
The same police are holding another 20 year old man in its custody over defiling a 14 year old girl during chrismas festival.
The suspect is known as Sanyu John of kisomoro zone,Kabahango,Buhensi sub county ,Kabarole district. According to police, investigations in accordance to the crime are still ongoing.
General Secretary of Uganda National Teachers Union James Tweheyo has blamed deteriorating education in Uganda to inspectors of Schools starting from the ministry of education up to the district level.
Speaking to the Journalists in Mbarara Tweheyo said that Inspectors of schools no longer visit schools to find out what takes place and what is needed in schools so that they can compile a report to the government for it to address the challenges.
Tweheyo says that these inspectors lack passion for their Jobs as most of them have excuses of lacking transport to inspect the schools which he said that some of the schools are nearby them which does not need transport to reach there.
He calls for the ministry to work with UNATU to know what is perturbing the schools since most of the teachers now report to the Union therefore when they work together the government will get quick feed backs as far as education sector is concerned.
Police in Mbarara have recovered two SMG AK47 riffles from thugs in Mbarara town that are said to have been used to terrorize people in western region.
The Mbarara district police Commander Jeffer Magezi told journalists at his office yesterday evening that the guns were recovered from Alex Tusiime and Justus Twagira-mungu who have been working as porters on various buildings in Mbarara town during day and do robbery at night.
The two while at Mbarara police station confessed that they have been carrying out their robbery activities in western region and some parts of Kampala.
Magyezi says the duo was arrested during an operation that was launched by police following an incident that happened in Sheema district, where thugs shot dead a security guard at Bam petrol station and after ran away with his gun.
The DPC says police have been tracing the two, until they were arrested from Mbarara town last evening.
He says these people are currently being detained at Mbarara police station awaiting to be handed over to police in Sheema, to face murder charges.
The Resident District Commissioner Bushenyi district, Peter Mugisha has warned the Bushenyi district public accounts committee chairman Emmanuel Karasi to stop with immediate effect arresting municipal, district and town council staff because it’s not his work.
RDC said this yesterday in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com reporter in his office at Bushenyi district headquarters.
RDC further said that incase Karasi finds a staff member deserving to be arrested, he should write to the Chief Administrative Officer and CAO writes to police telling them to carry out the arrest but not Karasi doing it imself.
Of recent Karasi has arrested a big number of staff from district and Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal council which is not his work according to the RDC.
The sub-county chief for Bitooma, Hillary Twebaze, Municipal Treasurer Jackson Muhwezi and his junior staff were recently arrested on orders of PAC Chairman Mr. Karasi but were later released.
This therefore has forced the RDC Bushenyi district to come out with a directive to Karasi to stop arresting civil servants without mandate to do so.
Bushenyi chief magistrate has denied allegations that he is corrupt and should be transferred from his station as being demanded by district top leaders.

The denial of allegations came as a result of a letter written by Bushenyi RDC Peter Mugisha to the minister of justice and constitutional affairs Hon. Kahinda Otafiire demanding the immediate transfer of the magistrate from Bushenyi magisterial area.
In an interview with www.mknewslink.com reporter RDC Mugisha admitted having written the letter to Hon. Kahinda demanding the immediate transfer of the magistrate because of corruption and bribery.
Farmers also petitioned the RDC in a letter demanding the transfer of his worship Katorogo from Bushenyi because of releasing cattle thieves on bail after allegedly bribing him.
On the other hand, Katorogo told www.mknewslink.com editor today morning that bail is a constitutional right therefore there is no way he can deny to give it to suspects. He added that he is not bothered by these threats and meetings being organized by RDC Peter Mugisha and DISO Captain Paddy Baguma because he is doing his professional work.
Bushenyi magisterial area is composed of five districts that is Bushenyi, Sheema,Buhweju, Rubirizi and Mitooma. His worship Katoorogo is in charge of all judicial officials in the Bushenyi Greater sub-region.

He further said “I wanted to warn them of the impending plan to arrest them if found taking bribes as claimed by RDC and DISO”
Traffic Police in Mbarara have impounded 5 buses at Kanyaryeru along Mbarara-Masaka high way due to lack of route chats and PSV licenses.
The buses which were impounded include Kalita, Trinity, Kisizi and two post buses.
According to the Rwizi region police spokesperson, Idi Ibin Ssenkumbi, the impounded buses lacked the new computerized route chats and PSV licenses as the ones they had, had expired on 20th December 2016.
He says police ordered the bus owners to refund the money to the passengers so as to enable them continue with their journeys.
According to the Rwizi police mouth piece, three of the buses were allowed to continue to Kampala to clear with the transport licensing board while the remaining two that had not yet started on the process of clearing, were driven to Mbarara police station where they were still being kept by press time yesterday.
Police in Rubanda district yesterday detonated two bombs that were
recovered in Echuya Forest Reserve. Echuya forest reserve borders
Rubanda and Kisoro Districts and Rwanda.
According to locals, the 82mm mortar bomb and a hand bomb grenade were
recovered from the forest on Tuesday evening by one Kamuhanda a
resident of Mushongati cell in Kashasha parish Bufundi Sub County,
Rubanda District.
Deus Muhumuza, one of the locals from Nyarurambi cell, in Kishanje
Parish, Bufundi sub County, Rubanda District says that the bombs were
left in the forest in 1994 Rwandan Genocide war. Muhumuza suspects
that more ammunition could still be dumped in the same forest reverse
calling security officials to make extra search.

Kabahoze , says that Kamuhanda recovered the bombs while in the forest
to get manure for his crops. Kabahoze says that the bombs were rushed
to Bufundi Police post and alerted security officials at the District
for intervention.
The Rubanda District Chairperson Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema says that
there is a great need for security officials to make thorough search
of ammunition in the forest.
The Rubanda District Police Commander Tai Ramadhan, says that when
they got the information he immediately alerted the office of Counter
Terrorism Police in Kampala for help who detonated the two bombs.
He also warns the public against tampering with such ammunitions
saying they risk losing their lives by usingtheir bare hands to tamper
with the bombs.
He adds that locals should always alert relevant
authorities for a possible solution. Ramadhan says that police will
sit to see how searching for more ammunition in the forest reverse can
be handled.
In 2008 two light machine guns (LMG) were recovered from the forest by
locals and were handed over to security officials.

Immediate retired Bishop of West Ankole Diocese Yona Mwesigwa Katoneene has advised people of Bushenyi and the family of Elly Kekuruso not to weep because Canon Robinah Kekuruso has died but should rather celebrate her life and achievements that God has enabled her to make.
According to retired Bishop Katoneene all the achievements that Canon Robinah needed to attain in life were all attained and they included;
She wanted to go to Israel and see the tomb of Jesus Christ which she did,
West Ankole Diocese recognized her Godly works and awarded her a title of canon,
She was elected councilor for the elderly to Bushenyi-ishaka municipality.
She did godly work at Rukiindo church of Uganda in west Ankole Diocese by loving and offering to God
Katoneene said this yesterday evening after receiving the body of Canon Robinah at her home in Rukiindo, from Kampala where she died from.
Retired Bishop William Magambo was also present and hailed Canon Robinah’s work both in church and at home by raising responsible and disciplined children.
Police in Mbarara is holding one Florence Namiyombya in connection with the death of her husband who was the Kashongi sub-county community development officer in kiruhura.
Namiyombya 34 years is in police cells after she was arrested yesterday on suspicion that she was involved in the murdering of Isaac Atwiine the Kashongi sub-county community development officer in kiruhura district who was murdered by unknown assailants in Rwemirizi cell, Katete ward in Nyamitanga division here in Mbarara municipality on Monday.
Rwizi region police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi confirmed the arrest and said that they arrested Namiyombya after the deceased’s relatives complained that she had a hand in the death of Isaac Atwiine.
Ssenkumbi adds that even police was in the other way rescuing her from the angry relatives who were convicting and threatening her of the death of their son.
Ssenkumbi however warns relatives and friends who are threatening Namiyombya that they are at risk of facing the law because threatening is also a crime therefore he appeals to them that if they have evidence let them bring to police to help in the investigations so that the criminals are brought to book.
