The operation officer Banyankore Kweterana coffee cooperative union Mr Elias Rwobusingye has called upon the members of the society to bring high quality coffee to their factory if they are to get much money, Rwomushana said this today 31/05/2016 while giving his speech at the meeting held at Banyankole Kweterana coffee cooperative union Bushenyi Branch in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality in Bushenyi district .
He said that Banyankore Kweterana coffee cooperative union Limited is covering 10 districts that form former Ankore which includes Mbarara, Rubirizi Mitoma,Sheema and many others. He also said that they are exporting their coffee direct to Europe because they have exporting licence and they export only high quality coffee.
The chairman board for Banyankore Kweterana Mr Bingana Geofrey has encouraged farmers to use better methods of farming saying that with at least 500 trees of coffee you can harvest 500 kgs per season.
Bingana notes that it is the role of the members to provide the necessary capital for their society as well as paying operating costs according to the to the Banyankankore coffee co-operative union limited rules. He also called upon heads of the society to go and have meetings with their members and to always make minutes that will be helping them to revise what they planned to do and what they did.
He said that the annual meeting will be held on 29/6/2016 and will be attended by only two delegates from each society and should be having shares in the union which is at least equal to 5 million shillings. He also said that Banyankore Kweterana coffee co-operative union limited has 45 societies but out of 45 only 22 has started delivering.
The District Commercial Officer Davide Byamukama said that the government is to construct three coffee factories in Bushenyi and so far Ibare and Bitoma are under construction and they are soon to begin Nyeibingo. He noted that those factories are for people’s benefits not government business.
Ankunda Harriet who is the director for Igara and Rubirizi said that coffee is the one that sells Uganda internationally she appearled to farmers to plant coffee in large quantity if they are to eradicate poverty in Uganda instead of focusing on government job alone.
