In Fortportal—

The founder of Youth Line Forum a non-profit organization in Uganda and former aide to former IGP Kale Kayihura Ronald Tugume has shown his interest to contest for Western Uganda MP post.

The former LDC President, under the mentorship of former IGP Kale Kayihura founded Progressive Lawyers Association whose aim was to tap into the knowledge of young lawyers to help in mentoring them, helping them get internship and job placements,

Tugume, is known to have been involved in university politics since his time at Uganda Christian University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree.

He also served as the Coordinator for Crime preventers in western region and also a NRM youth leader in the Kabarole NRM structures.

Born to the late Johnson Musana who was a lawyer, Ronald Tugume hails from Kigwengwe, Rubingo Fort Portal Kabarole district.

The Youth Member of Parliament election is conducted through an electoral college vote and seems to be a laidback one of a kind because of the aggressiveness that many cultural institutions come with in the different youth structural positions across the country.

This race competition has always been a stiff one and this time’s race seems no different, as the NRM party flag is being sought after by Mark Ariho who hails from Rukungiri and son to Herbert Innocent Barigye, a city lawyer who occasionally does President Museveni’s private legal work, Edson Rugumayo who hails from Ntoroko district, Igumira John who comes from Kiruhura and among other candidates.

BOU LOSSES APPEAL CASE, TO PAY OVER 1BN SHS COSTS TO TYCOON SUDHIR

In Kampala—

Following the Judgement of Court of Appeal today which chased a multi-billion appeal case in which Crane Bank in receivership, had sought to overturn a judgment of the Commercial Court that was in favor of tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, Bank of Uganda is expected to pay the bills of costs of over 1bn shs.
The court today has dismissed the appeal with costs to the businessman both at the appeal level and at the High Court level and according to one of the lawyers of Tycoon Sudhir, Jet Tumwebaze, he expects the bill of costs to be over Shs1b that Bank of Uganda will have to pay on behalf of Crane Bank in receivership.
In a verdict, three justices of the court of appeal led by Deputy Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, agreed with the decision of then Commercial Court judge David Wangutusi, that once Crane Bank was placed under receivership, it lost its powers to sue Mr Ruparelia. The other justices of the court were; Cheborion Barishaki and Steven Musota.
A judgement ruled that its clear that there is a protection granted to the financial institution in receivership against being sued.
The Judges also added that a person who is protected from suits under the law is also prohibited from suing adding that the law protects the appellant (Crane Bank in receivership) from the process of court, cannot then empower it against other court users.

Amb. Nkuruho described Can. Joram Tibasiima Ruranga the acting chairman of Igara ranchers’ cooperative union as self and not formal.

Amb. Nkuruho in his intention to sue Tibasiima and his executive demanded for accountability of the monies most especially from Igara ranchers hall which has been rented by Bell breweries for now 16 years.

www.mknewslink.com managing editor also interviewed the accused Anglican canon, Joram Tibasiima Ruranga yesterday afternoon.

Can. Tibasiima who is seasoned politician and educationist noted that what Amb. Nkuruho is rising are valid points and will be respected.

“We were preparing for a general meeting in March 2020 but COVID 19 pandemic disturbed us however we shall still have a general meeting” Can Tibasiima told www.mknewslink.com editor.

Igara ranchers cooperative union is a very old union whose members lost coordination and eventually a few members started benefiting from the assets that had already been acquired like Igara Hall.

Bell breweries have been renting Igara Hall since 2004 and the accountability of the money can’t be traced.

The late Can. Bisigire took charge of the hall and collected all the money but never accounted for it to members.
