6 STUDENTS ARRESTED IN KABALE WITH PANGAS, MATCHETS

IN KABALE

Police in Kabale district are holding six students of different schools
for being armed in public.
The students who were arrested; three from Kigezi high school, two from
Kabale Trinity College and another one claims to be an old boy of
Excel high school.
The students were found on possession with pangs, iron bars, knives,
axe, among others metals.
The Kabale district Chairperson Sports Committee of Association of
Secondary school head teachers of Uganda-ASSHU Onesmas Rukundo says
that the suspects were identified in the Kabale Municipal stadium
before the kick off Kabale district secondary school Volley Ball and
netball competitions.
Rukundo says that after suspecting that the suspects were armed, they
decided to call police.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the
students who were picked from the stadium, were hiding their metals in
their bags. Maate is however condemning the acts students saying that
they investigating, and the suspects will be charged accordingly.

On interrogation, the students told police that they were carrying the
metals for self defense.

On Monday this week in related development 23 students of Kigezi college Butobere were arrested by Kabale police for invading their neigboring school Kabale trinity college. They are yet to be taken to court
