Police in Kisoro District are hunting for unknown armed robbers who shot and injured a businessman before stealing 23 million Ugandan shillings at Mugomberero Trading Centre, Rushenyi Village, Soko Parish, Muramba Sub-county, Kisoro District.
According to reports, the incident occurred on April 29, 2025, at around 8:30 PM. Four armed men allegedly stormed the shop of Turinayo Michael and shot the shop attendant, Mucunguzi Kenneth, 30, in the arm before robbing him of UGX 23,000,000.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, told journalists that the assailants fired several bullets to scare away bystanders before fleeing the scene.
Maate confirmed that the matter was reported to the police. The scene was visited, documented, and nine cartridges were recovered as evidence. The injured victim was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Efforts to track down and arrest the suspects are ongoing.
