The administration, doctors, students and patients at Kampala International University teaching hospital in Ishaka town were gripped with excitement and left speechless when Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka paid a surprise visit on Monday, February 17, 2025, to the university reportedly to check on the accident victims currently admitted at the teaching hospital.

It is said that Owobusobozi Bisaka who heads a religious sect known as the religion of unity which is headquartered in Masindi district surprised everyone including security at the campus when his convoy just drove into the university without any prior knowledge, schedule or arrangement that he was to visit.

At first, business especially at the teaching hospital was paralyzed since nobody knew what was going on and perhaps which big person in the country had visited until “his people” he had moved with came out of their cars and began singing and dancing around him.

According to Dr. Kusemererwa Byaruhanga who received Owobusobozi Bisaka and ushered him the visitors’ book in which he happily signed, there was no arrangement or plan that the hospital was to host Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com, Dr. Byaruhanga who is also known as ‘Omuheleza’ because he too is a member and subscribes to Bisaka’s religion said; “I must say that all of us here were surprised with our leader’s visit. There was no arrangement that he would be visiting us. But all in all, we are very happy that he came to check on us and his people currently admitted here.”

Omuheleza Dr. Byaruhanga also said that Owobusobozi Bisaka happily signed the visitors’ book at the hospital and in his message to them, he thanked them for the good work done and for loving him.

Owobusobozi Bisaka was received by Mr. Emmanuel Gutaka the principal nursing officer (PNO) at the university teaching hospital. Gutaka headed the other nurses in guiding Bisaka as he toured around the wards were the patients are admitted.

At the time of the surprise visit, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the teaching hospital, Dr. Umi Omar was also not aware because she was attending to a team of visiting medical professors at the university. She was informed about Bisaka’s visit on phone.

“Why didn’t you people tell me that we were to host Mr. Owobusobozi Bisaka. Can you imagine am just hearing that he was here to visit us and has already gone?” Dr. Omar joked with her staff members in her office, as she was updating journalists from www.newslink.com about the medical situation of the accident victims admitted there.

The jolly CEO informed this publication that the hospital has done all that is possible to see that all the accident victims receive adequate and proper treatment and are steadily recovering.

“My team of medical doctors have done a tremendous job on all our patients. When the accident happened last week at Kitagata, we dispatched an ambulance to the accident scene and made sure that all survivors and any affected people were brought here for treatment. I am happy to report that we did our best and have not registered any deaths,” Dr. Omar said.

She also added that a total of 79 people is what the hospital received and admitted for treatment. Dr. Omar also said that all these people have had treatment and that the hospital has started discharging some who have improved and are out of danger.

According to Dr. Omar, 25 patients had been discharged by Monday, February 17, 2025.

She thanked the doctors taking care of the patients and revealed that the hospital is fully equipped with enough manpower and equipment to handle any kind of emergency.

“We are here to serve and so to render excellent service to our people. And because of this, we are fully equipped with enough manpower which include professors in several disciplines,” Dr. Omar concluded.
