Water shortage in Kidodo cell in Central Division Kasese municipality
has entered into the 3rd day leaving putting sanitation and hygiene of
people at risk.
According to Sisiria Isemiribu, a resident in the area, the area has
spent three days without any tap operational forcing them to travel
long distances in search of clean drinking water.
Isemiribu, a mother emotionally said that her children have spent all
days without bathing and washing their clothes.
She said that a jerrycan of water from the flowing dirty waters of
Nyamwamba was now bought between 500 and 700 asking the authority of
National water and Sewage Cooperation to intervene into the matter.
Goriate Kahuju another resident said that for her she was currently
depending on rainy water saying she was worried waking up during night
hours to collect water.
Kasese Municipal Health Inspector, Gloria Kyomuhendo said told www,mknewslink.com
reporter that her office had not been funished with reports that Kidodo
cell was not having water.
However, this reporter could not independently verify this information.
Kyomuhendo asked the residents to boil the water they were fetching
from River Nyamwamba in order to avoid diseases like Cholera, Typhoid
and Dysentery.
She tipped the area leadership together with the Village Health Team
Members to report such cases for quick redress.
In an interview with Kasese Area Manager National Water and Sewage
Corporation, Brian Ambayire said that most of the water pipes have
been reported broken due to heavy down pour in most parts of the
district.
He also noted that rain in the mountains blocks the pipes leading to
the crisis in the area adding that very soon the problem would be
addressed.
He appealed to the community to always harvest enough water to avoid
inconveniencie
