Authorities in Kabale municipality have stopped the construction of a
100 million shillings Rwamafa road in Kabale municipality, over shoddy
work.
Rwamafa road is being done by municipal council under road fund.
However the Resident District Commissioner Darius Nandinda, his Deputy
Denis Nzeirwe and Kabale mayor Sentaro Byamugisha intervened today to
stop the shoddy works.
Sentaro accuses the technical team for resealing the road without
design, of using loam soil instead of murram to grade the road.
Sentaro says that the road was being done without design which is
against the law. He says that for bills of quantities to be issued,
the design should be done first.
The Kabale deputy RDC Nzairwe accuse the technical team of narrowing the road that is contrary to the contract terms. Nzwirwe
adds that he will not accept shoddy work being done on government
programs and also he will monitor road works to ensure that the
technical team abides by the set standards.
Our reporter tried to reach out to town clerk for a comment but in vain.
