IN KABALE—
A bitter row has erupted between the Boda-Boda leadership in Kabale
district and Kabale district security committee over the decision to
allow some of their counterparts to operate at night.
On 02nd June 2016, Security authorities Kabale district banned, with
immediate effect, the movement of Boda-Boda after mid night in order
to reduce on crime.
However the security committee has gazette two stages at Mist Bar and
Club Haven to allow some Boda-Bodas to operate.
According to Kabale district police commander Dickens Bindeeba, the
bar owners approached them demanding for Boda bodas claiming that
their customers move at night which security committee accepted.
The Kabale district motor and bicycle Boda-Boda Chairperson Samuel
Safari, says that decision by security committee is unfair since they
all do the same job. He says that they are demanding to meet security
committee to discuss the matter.
The defense Kabale district motor and bicycle Boda-Boda Robert Nzeirwe
says that they will not accept the partial implementation of the
ordinance. He says that they will not accept their counter parts to
operate while others are tortured.
