The newly sworn in Rubirizi district chairman Rev.Fr.Silver Agubashogwiire has vowed to mobilize all residents of Rubirizi district to join FDC party if president Museveni doesnot make political appointments from his pre-dominant NRM district.
District chairman Agubashogwire noted that his district of Rubirizi votes Museveni 100% as wells as all the leaders are NRM; these include members of parliaments, district councilors, sub-county councilors and lci and Two leaders.
He noted that it’s surprising that Rubirizi district does not have an RDC, does not have an Ambassador and a minister however they have been voting overwhelmingly NRM at all levels since 1994.
Chairman Agubashongwire said this Monday while speaking at Nyakasharu playground in Rubirizi district at a function officiated by the outgoing minister of water and environment Prof.Ephraim kamuntu. The function was organized by national water and Sewerage Corporation to sensitize the residents on how to pay their bills in time and to stop blaming national water that it cheats them while billing them.
When Agubashogwire was making the above statements, his constituents/residents of Rubirizi kept on cheering him. “our chairman your speaking facts and we agree with you in case you call us to join FDC we shall join. We are tired of voting and when time comes for sharing the national cake, other districts which voted badly benefit and we are left behind.” Some members in the audience said.
“Our MPS are very well educated with experience for example the MP for Bunyaruguru Hon.Eng.Ntamuhiira John Twesigye can even be a better minister. By the way why don’t you tell the president to appoint him your deputy?. Agubashogwire told prof.kamuntu. The cabinet was read on the same day Monday evening and No Rubirizi MP or resident was appointed minister.
As much as Agubashogwire expressed anger that government has forgotten Rubirizi on political appointment, Rubirizi is not as bad as Buhweju district because Rubirizi has the chief justice Bart katureebe and the accountant general Mr. Semakula kacere.
But Buhweju together with Rubirizi, Mitooma, Sheema were curved out from Bushenyi district in July 2010. Buhweju is the most marginalized without any political appointments and what resulted into that is, they voted a member of parliament who is a member of FDC, Francis Mwijukye. Let us wait and see whether Rubirizi district chairman will make all his NRM residents to cross to FDC as he warned.
