Hoima Oil City will be launched officially on Thursday 13th August.
Hoima Municipality was elevated to a city status after being approved by Parliament on July 30th.
The motion to approve Hoima Oil city was presented by the local government minister Raphael Magyezi.
It is amongst ten new cities that became operational this financial year 2020/21 which include Mbarara, Fort portal, Gulu, Lira, Mbale, Jinja, among others.
Hoima oil city seats on 228 square kilometers with a population of 171,000 people.
According to the acting lord Mayor, Her lordship Grace Mary Mugasa, the function will start at 11am at the former municipal offices officiated by the local government minister Raphael Magyezi.
