Paul Turyamureeba Kahiigi has sued Hassan Basajjabbalaba and Jafari Basajjabbalaba together with the independent electoral commission for intimidating, harassing his polling agents, bribing and stealing his votes in 2016 Bushenyi district LCV chairman general elections.
Kahigi petitioned Mbarara high court on 13/05/2016 accusing the two brothers of the above crimes and his case is registered as election petition 008.
While talking with www.mknewslink.com editor in an exclusive interview this morning May 18, 2016, Kahigi said that electoral commission swapped his more votes with Jafari’s less votes at many polling stations in the last Bushenyi district chairmanship race.
Jafari is the elder brother of tycoon Hassan Basajabalaba and according to the details of the petition. Tycoon Hassan spent over 500million bribing the voters in the total 12 sub-counties
He said that while rigging for Jafari Bushenyi district independent electoral commission, NRM and RDC’s office cooperated together to facilitate the rigging of his votes, intimidating and harassing his supporters.
“I appeal to all my supporters to stay calm and pray for us. By The way I have a good case. It was open bribery by Hassan Basajjabalaba for his elder brother Jafari Basajabalaba. I have high hopes that court will cancel Jafari’s illegal victory” Kahiigi Revealed
