Recently Sheema municipality authorities formed several environmental committees whose work is to protect River Rwizi and the surrounding swamps in a bid to fight against climate change in Ankole sub-region.

However, when contacted for a comment, the Sheema municipality town clerk; Geofrey Bamanyisa blamed the matter on NEMA who keep watching while swamps being encroached. “What are the responsibilities of NEMA?, they should wake up and do their work “he said.
