The Arua municipality MP has been shot dead together with his body guard in a voxwagon yellow car this evening near his home in Kawanda by unknown gun men who were on a motorcycle. www.mknewslink.com has dug dipper on why he Abiriga was murdered in cold blood.
He angered the people who were opposed to the age limit removal by marketing President Museveni everywhere with yellow including bed sheets, blankets, cupboards, clothes, vehicles and all other things with party colours.
Ugandans opposed to NRM looked at Abiriga as a marketer/billboard for all NRM polices whereas those policies were not favorable including taxes of MBS, Mobile Money which angered many people.

MURDER SCENE OF HON. ABIRIGA AT KAWANDA IN A KAMPALA SUBURB
People opposed to NRM appeared unhappy with Abiriga and maybe killed him to scare away other people who would want to emulate Abiriga to sell the brand of NRM party colors.
Nevertheless; its just a year and few months when former IGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi was shot dead the same way. Now all Ugandans are on alert of the Insecurity in the country.
The Police and The President have released a statements saying that they are going to work hard to bring these killers to book.

As Uganda celebrates heroes’ day today, Army veterans in Kabale district want governmnet to compesate their families for their involvement in the 1981-1986 Struggle that ushered the National Resistance Movement government into power
The Veterans said that the families of people who fought are leaving in sorry state yet they shed blood to save the country
The Kigezi Region Veterans Chairperson Caleb Turyamutunga, said that many army veterans who died left orphans and widows and they are suffering without any help. He added that as the theme says, government should remember them since they shed blood to save the nation.
Heroes’ Day is a special day observed in many countries to commemorate the countries’ national heroes. Hundreds of Ugandans sacrificed their lives so that Uganda could be liberated from the autocratic leadership of the past regimes.
In 1985 that the National Resistance Army (NRA) government came to power led by Yoweri Museveni who said that the change was fundamental and basic in the political scene of Uganda..
The theme for the 29th Heroes’ Day Anniversary celebrations is: “Remembering our Heroes who kept the faith and fought the fight; the duty to enrich their gains is ours”. The National celebrations will be held at Birembo sub-county in Kakumiro District, and President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest
The Kabale district Chairman Patrick Besigye Keihwa said that Kabale district will not celebrate the day but it will join the rest of the country to celebrate it. Willian to United hopes dashed
Former West Ham and Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes Chelsea will not sell Willian to Manchester United due to the success of Nemanja Matic
The Serb moved across from London to Manchester for £40m last summer, before thriving in his first season at Old Trafford.
And Hislop says Chelsea will have learned from their mistakes.
“You see how well Nemanja Matic did in his switch from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford,” he told ESPN.
“Now, you’re tempted to say Willian would do the exact same. But if you’re Chelsea you’re thinking ‘we’re not going to make that same mistake twice’.
“So as a result, the uncertainty doesn’t help Willian’s prospects and certainly it works doubly negatively in his prospects to move to Old Trafford.”

Toni Kroos’ future at Real Madrid undecided
The Germany international is a long-term target for the Red Devils, with Mourinho said to be a big admirer of the 28-year-old.
However, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Kroos will not be heading to Old Trafford this summer.
They reckon United boss Mourinho has decided to cool his interest in the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

Alderweireld doubts
Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to miss out on Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
However, according to ESPN, Tottenham are demanding around £70m for the centre-back, with United currently willing to pay £50m.
They add that Jose Mourinho is looking at other targets should United fail to land Alderweireld this summer.
Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet, Raphael Varane of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng are on Mourinho’s three-man transfer shortlist.
Pogba to leave?
Man Utd star Paul Pogba has reportedly been offered to Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The France international has struggled to impress at Old Trafford following his £89m return to United in 2016.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Pogba wants to leave United this summer.
They say the France key man has been offered to Chelsea, Barcelona and Real.
Don Balon add that Pogba would rather join La Liga giants Barca should he leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
The United star is said to be keen to work with Ernesto Valverde at the Nou Camp.
Stoney appointed
Manchester United have appointed Casey Stoney as their new Women’s head coach.
The 36-year-old, who played for Liverpool and Arsenal during her career, has been appointed as the club’s first ever women’s manager.
“To build a team, to build a philosophy, with the biggest club in the world… for me, there is no more exciting opportunity,” said Stoney after her appointment.
United’s official men’s Twitter account changed the bio and banner to broadcast the news.
Pogba swap?
Man Utd star Paul Pogba could be heading to Real Madrid in a stunning swap deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, reports in Spain claim.
Red Devils midfielder Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after numerous bust-ups with Jose Mourinho this season.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, the Red Devils are willing to offer Pobga in a swap deal for Real talisman Ronaldo.
United feel a player-plus-cash offer would convince the Spanish giants to let Ronaldo return to Old Trafford this summer.
Don Balon add that Mourinho has given the green light to selling Pobga in the coming weeks.
Pogba to Juve?
Paulo Dybala wants Paul Pogba to return to Juventus.
PSG have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old in recent months.
But Dybala wants the midfielder to return to the Juventus Stadium in the near future.
“With Paul I kept a good relationship even after his departure for England,” he told TYC Sport.
“With him I was very good on the pitch, we had a lot of feeling, even outside the field we always felt very good.
“I feel that if he could come back, it will be very good for our friendship.
“We would stop making video calls and we would go back to training together.”
Jose eyes former Toon defender
Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing former Newcastle youngster Kevin Mbabu to replace Matteo Darmian.
LIVERPOOL OFFLOADS EMRE CAN AND JON FLANAGAN
The Reds have announced their retained list of players for the 2018/19 season and Jon Flanagan and Emre Can are the big names leaving the club.
It ends months of speculation over the latter’s situation with the German having refused to sign a new deal.
Can has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus in recent months despite Jurgen Klopp being keen to keep him on.
Can, who joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, made his 167th and final appearance for Liverpool in last month’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid.
Academy graduate Flanagan, meanwhile, departs having featured in 51 senior games following his 2011 debut against Manchester City.

Manchester City are still working on deals to bring in their first players of the summer transfer window as they continue negotiations for a number of players.
But one player who won’t be coming to the Etihad is Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt. Pep Guardiola has ruled out a move for the defender, with the Manchester City manager determined to focus on his midfield and attack this summer.

The Premier League champions have been repeatedly linked with the 18-year-old centre-back, who is a target for Tottenham. But Guardiola has no plans to make any additions to his rearguard after spending around £180m in that department over the past 12 months.

City are still negotiating on deals for Riyad Mahrez and Jorginho with Mateo Kovacic and Mario Lemina also on Guardiola’s radar.

Manchester United have confirmed they will release eight players – and are awaiting a response from six others on contract offers.
The club issued their annual released and retained list via the Premier League’s website and it confirms eight players will leave the club.
The first name on the list comes as no surprise. Michael Carrick has retired following a successful 12-year playing career at Old Trafford to join Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff.
Carrick is the only first-team player to be named on the list and the rest being the academy U23 players. They include Goalkeeper Max Johnstone, defender Joe Riley, midfielder Devonte Redmond, Theo Richardson

HON.IBRAHIM ABIRIGA’s DEATH LEAVES MANY QUESTIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT

Saturday June 9, 2018
www.mknewslink.com
By Aiden Graw
In Kampala
Singer turned Politician and currently a Member of Parliament representing Kyandondo East Hon Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has called out the Government of Uganda to curb down the security crisis after the untimely murder of Hon. Col. Ibrahim Abiriga and his bodyguard that occurred Yesterday 8th June, 2018 in the evening hours.

Who Is Abriga?
For starters Col. Abriga was the current Arua Municipality Member of Parliament. He was born in 1956 from the West Nile region. In 1971, he joined the Uganda Army (UA) and mostly served as the Manager of Pakuba Lodge in the present-day Murchison Falls National Park. Like most of the ‘Amin soldiers’, after the overthrow of Iddi Amin in 1979, he fled to Congo and Sudan. In exile, they formed fighting groups to fight the new successive governments in Kampala. One such group was the UNRF under now Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali. Abiriga’s blood relative, Gen. Bamuze was the UNRF Chief of Staff.
Ibrahim Abiriga later joined the NRA in 1986 and rose to become the 2nd Division Administration Officer (DAO). He served in that position from 1988 to 1990 when his active military career informally ended.
A decade later, Ibrahim Abiriga contested for the Madi Okollo parliamentary seat but lost to the opposition candidate. Consequently, President Yoweri Museveni appointed Abiriga to the position of Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Arua District. As RDC, he went to Adrava Health Centre at Rhino Camp and personally unplucked the campaign posters of an opposition candidate before harassing and accusing the health workers of ‘promoting the opposition’.
In 2014, Abiriga was transferred from Arua to Yumbe district as the RDC. However, in June 2015 he quit the position of RDC to run for Member of Parliament for Arua Municipality on the Museveni party ticket. He cited failure to serve people like he would have wished using the position of RDC. It is interesting to note that during his tenure as RDC, Abiriga would sometimes even challenge government programs that did not favour the local people.
In September 2015, Abiriga was suspiciously nominated by the EC not in Arua but in Kampala. However, a voter from Arua disputed his academic credentials by petitioning the Electoral Commission. It was alleged that Abiriga had only stopped in Primary Three. The above-mentioned education institutions denied ever enrolling a person in those names. In February 2016, the Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified him from contesting for the Arua Municipality. The EC’s decision reversed the District Returning Officer’s earlier decision that had nominated him. A week to the election day, Museveni ordered the Electoral Commission to reinstate Abiriga on the ballot paper.
Abiriga won the Arua Municipality seat but his opposition rival challenged his victory in court on grounds that the nomination forms that were used by the EC to declare him the winner were not the right ones and In June 2016, the EC in Arua ruled in favour of Abiriga. An appeal was lodged in the Court of Appeal but it was also dismissed in April 2017

Well yesterday, Hon. Ibrahim Abriga was shot dead in the company of his body guard as they drove in his yellow car a thing that has prompted Bobi Wine to appeal to the government once more to acknowledge that we have reached that point when we must have an honest conversation as a nation and find a way out of this crisis.
He went on to add that;
“No matter who we are and what our political persuasions are, no Ugandan should lose his or her life in this gruesome, senseless manner”

The Rukiga district Vice Chairman Jackson Muganizi lashed at farmers for acquiring loans of crops in gardens, before they are harvested,
Muganizi said this yesterday launching four demonstration irrigation sites at rukiga district headquartes constructed by Kachwekano Zonal Agriculture Research Institute-KAZARDI in Kamwezi Sub County, at a function held at sub county head quarters in Rukiga district.

The project was designed to support the implementation of the full National programs of National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) and the second Phase of National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS).
Muganizi said that many borrowers cheat farmers when crops are still in gardens before harvesting. He noted when prices shoot high some farmers tend to refuse to pay back the owners of loans which has increased violence and crimes in the district.
The Director of Kachwekano Zonal Agriculture Research Institute Dr Alex Barekye asked farmers to harvest rainwater which they can use for irrigation during long spells of drought.
The Research officer and program leader of Technology Promotion Kachwekano Zonal Agriculture Research Institute Amos Mutayomba asked farmers to grow high value crops like tomatoes, onions, carrots among others, if they are to realize profits. He also said that they project cost KAZARDI 50 million shillings to construct the four demonstration sites.

CRISTIANO RONALDO REJECT REAL MADRID OFFER AMIDST MAN-UNITED MOVE

Monday June 11, 2018
Is Cristiano Ronaldo better than Lionel Messi? It’s the eternal football question of our age. One that has been asked for a decade and will continue to be asked for many decades more. And the answer, obviously, is no. Ronaldo is not better. Messi is better. But the Portuguese forward simply won’t have it.
Spanish radio station Cadena COPE reports that, following incessant demands for a pay rise from the man they call CR7, Real Madrid have tabled an improved deal worth £28.5m a year. To put that into context, it’s even more than Andy Carroll earns at West Ham.
As well as a basic wage of £423,000 a week, which would allow Cristiano to pay for his essentials such as groceries, utility bills and moisturiser, the deal also includes bonuses such as £1.32m for winning the league and £880,000 for winning the Ballon D’Or.
To him, it is an insult, because it means his earnings would still dwarf those of Messi at Barcelona, who the Express says earns £1.76m a week (although this figure is inflated somewhat by an alleged £70m loyalty bonus if he stays at the Nou Camp).
Either way, it’s more than Ronaldo gets, and this makes him very angry. The 33-year-old has reportedly asked Real to double their offer, then add another £10m to it. Otherwise he will go to Manchester United.
Liverpool seek salvation from Pope (Nick)
Back in the real world (well, in the Sun on Sunday – so a very warped version of the real world), Liverpool have reportedly turned to Nick Pope to solve their goalkeeping problem.
The 26-year-old Burnley man had never played a minute of Premier League football before this season but is currently living it up in England’s World Cup squad. Now the Reds are set to bid £15m to bring him to Anfield and finally put Simon Mignolet out of his misery.
But the Sunday Mirror does not agree, claiming Pope has “agreed terms” on a new deal at Turf Moor.
Former Anfield pin-up Brendan Rodgers could be on his way back to England, with the Sun on Sunday claiming Leicester City have lined up the Celtic manager as a replacement for Claude Puel.
The not-very-exciting Frenchman seemed to have clung on to his job despite rumbles of disapproval at the King Power Stadium, but it turns out the Foxes have merely been taking their time seeking the the right man (or, more likely, being knocked back by more prestigious managers before settling on Rodgers).
BREAKING: Nabil Fekir won’t be joining Liverpool this summer.

One man not going to Anfield is Nabil Fekir, whose £53m move from Lyon has collapsed because the Reds tried to get him for a “reduced fee” after seeing the results of his medical, which apparently showed an ongoing issue with a serious knee injury he suffered (and recovered from) three years ago (Sunday Mirror).
Elsewhere, Arsenal are keen on 22-year-old Uruguayan defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira and have “reached an agreement” over the transfer with his club Sampdoria (Daily Star Sunday), Tottenham are considering a move for midfielder Jack Grealish, for whom Aston Villa want £40m (Sky Sports) and Mohamed Salah has “not forgiven” Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos for smashing his elbow to bits in the Champions League final (Mail on Sunday). The Spanish centre-back has text an apologetic text, but Salah wants flowers, chocolates and a dancing bear.
Harry Kane Eyes World Cup Golden Boot

HARRY KANE

England captain Harry Kane has set his sights on lifting the Golden Boot this summer in Russia as he bids to make amends for his disappointing campaign at the 2016 European Championship.
The World Cup kicks off this week, with Gareth Southgate’s men set to face Tunisia in their opening group game on Monday 18 June
Kane, who has claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in two of his last three seasons at Tottenham, failed to find the back of the next in France two years ago as England laboured to reach the last-16 of the competition before being knocked out by Iceland.
But two years on from that humiliation, with a further 84 goals for club and country under his belt, Kane has admitted he’s now targeting the top prize at this summer’s World Cup.
“As a striker, it is a competition that you want to win – I would be lying if I said I didn’t! In the Premier League I have won it twice and come second twice – hopefully this summer I can do something and get a World Cup one instead,” he said.

THE SECURITY OF THE COUNTRY ISN’T ALARMING— IGP OCHOLA

In Kampala
Heads of security in Uganda have assured the public that there is no need to worry because they are on top of the situation in the country.
As the country was trying to come to terms with the recent rampant kidnaps and murders in the past few months, another calamity hit when Arua Municipality Member of Parliament was assassinated.
As he returned home in Matugga, Wakiso district on Friday evening, Abiriga’s beetle Volkswagen was showered with bullets killing him instantly together with his bodyguard brother Saidi Kongo.
A number of people have since questioned the security situation in the country and the ability by government to protect Ugandans.
However, addressing a national security briefing at the Kampala Serena hotel on Monday, the various chiefs in the country said they are on top of the game.
“The general security of the country isn’t as alarming as some people would want others to believe. We’re in charge. I admit we have had a spate of kidnaps but we’re in charge, the security is doing what it’s supposed to do,”the Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola said.
“There are people out there who have been raising anxiety but if we weren’t in charge, there would be lawlessness everywhere.”
The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen.David Muhoozi said that security organs are unified and at the top of the situation in the country.
He however mentioned that there are some elements of criminality caused by what he termed as snippet cells of ADF rebels but said these have been amplified due to publicity adding anxiety to the public.

The security chiefs however noted that there are a number of measures put in place to ensure they streamline the security problem in the country.
“We are now putting in place a number of measures including taking stock of fire arms in individual hands. We shall record each fire arm and its features so if one is used in mischief, we can get the owner,” Gen. Muhoozi noted.
“In most cases we respond after the fact but we want to have first line of security in form of Local Defence Units and can be reinforced by other security agencies.”
The Internal Affairs minister, Gen.Jeje Odong however asked the public and the media to desist from bashing government for failure to step up their game in ensuring security because the criminals are part of the society.
“They don’t come from outside world but are amongst us. They are your brothers, fathers and relatives. We all live in dynamic societies,”Odong said.
