In Rubanda—

Kyokyezo primary school in Nyamweru Sub County Rubanda district is struggling to operate without a boys’ latrine, a library and enough classrooms following Saturday heavy rains that hit the school.

The schools head teacher Moses Turyatemba confirmed to www.mknewslink.com  that one of the classrooms which had been established by the parents back in 1990s was washed away by floods in October 2009 and the remaining temporally structure was too washed away on Saturday 16th when the area was hit by  heavy rains.

He added that the floods as a result of the rains which hit the area also washed away the school’s boys’ toilet and the library leaving the school in what he referred to as a sorry state health wise.

Turyatemba said that after the 2009 floods hit the school, they reported to the relevant authorities, but no action was taken. He asked the government through the Rubanda district leaders to attend to the school’s problems before the situation worsens.

However, the Rubanda district Woman Member of Parliament Prossy Begumisa Akampurira during her visit to the school yesterday promised to present the school’s problems to the responsible ministry for an immediate solution.www.mknewslink.com can confirm.

Kyokyezo primary school is a Church of Uganda Founded School which started in 1977. It became one of the government aided schools in 1982 and currently has an enrollment of 558 pupils.
