23 KIGEZI COLLEGE BUTOBERE STUDENTS IN POLICE CELLS

23 students of Kigezi College Butobere have been arrested by police in Kabale district for attacking another school last night. They attacked Kabale Trinity College that is located in Mwanjari ward southern division Kabale municipality. Some of The arrested students were picked from Kabale Trinity College
premises and Kabale Municipality streets while others were picked from Butobere.

According to Kabale Trinity College director Mr.Joab Tumwebarize, the school’s boy’s campus was attacked by a group of over 100 students from Kigezi College Butobere at around 8:30pm last night before assaulting the security guard on duty, 5 students and destroying property which included glasses and doors.He says that, it all started on Saturday when students of Butobere attacked their girls in stadium and they were chased away by police.

The Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that,the disagreement between the students of different schools started on Saturday when a group of students from Kigezi college Butobere tried
to attend a sports day function of Kabale Trinity College at Kabale municipal stadium but  were denied entrance which  allegedly humiliated them.
The Head teacher oft Kigezi College Butobere Mr.Twine Joseph Muganga admits that some of the students arrested by the police are not innocent of the charges against them.  He however revealed that the students who went out to attack another school will face the law as individuals. Muganga further revealed that the two schools have not had disagreements before and says that, it is normal business at the school.
By press time arrested students were being screened before the next
course of action is taken.
