The Ntungamo District council has passed a resolution to create 2 more districts out of Ntungamo district greater as the way to reduce un employment amongst youths in the region.
The motion was moved by Twikirize Nicholas Mugyenyi the male youth councilor Ntungamo district on Thursday 27th July 2017 noting that they need to have districts of Karaja,Rushenyi and Ntungamo.
The proposed Kajara District will have its headquarters at Rwashameire,Rushenyi at Rubaare and Ntungamo will be combined with Ruhaama and Municipality with its current headquarters.
This comes after Ruhaama leader’s forum led by Tom Muhoozi the NRM chairman for Ntungamo sub county agitating for the creation Ruhaama District curved out of mother district.
Councilor Twikirize urged that Ntungamo District is one of largest districts in the country with population of 500,000 people making it hard to extend services to its citizens.
However, the motion received with mixed reaction where the councilor for Kibatsi sub county Nagaba Ezekiel Muheebwa saying that he is not supporting the proposal since it will increase burden to citizens through paying taxes.
