TRAGEDY: 3-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES IN KISORO MOTOR ACCIDENT

Police in Kisoro District are investigating the circumstances under which a 3-year-old boy, identified as Dan Ainembabazi, lost his life in a motor vehicle accident after he reportedly crossed the road without checking for oncoming traffic.
The deceased was a son to Deusi Twinamatsiko, a resident of Nyamasinda Village in Nyanamo Town Council, Kisoro District. He was knocked and killed on Tuesday May 6, 2025at Byarutagara Trading Centre, located in the same village along the Rukungiri–Nyanamo road.
The accident involved a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number UBD 186R, which was being driven by Christopher Ngabirano, 44, a resident of Southern Division, Kabale Municipality in Kabale District.
According to a police report, it is alleged that the vehicle was traveling from the Rukungiri side toward Nyanamo Town Council. Upon reaching Byarutagara Trading Centre, the child reportedly entered the road suddenly, at a time when the vehicle was too close. Despite the driver’s attempt to brake, it was too late, and the vehicle’s tires fatally struck the child’s head, killing him instantly.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident, noting that police were promptly notified.
The body was transported to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the vehicle remains pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Maate urged parents and guardians to always accompany young children, especially near roads, to prevent such tragic incidents
