FIVE ARRESTED FOR MURDERING ELDERLY WOMAN DUE TO LAND DISPUTES

Police in Kabale District have arrested five suspects who had been on the run for allegedly killing an elderly woman last week in Ndorwa East, Buhaara Sub- County, for unknown reasons
The deceased as earlier reported is Feredian Ndyebwooha, a resident of Bugarama Village in Buhara Sub- County, Kabale District, who was murdered during the night of April 12, 2025 and her body was discovered in one of the bedrooms of her house.
The suspects have been identified as Byaruhanga Brian (31), Tukwasibwe Joseph (25), Aturiheihi Alex (19), Tubihemukama Ronald (19), and Niwagaba Dismus all residents of Bugarama Cell in Buhara Sub- County.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects are accused of conspiring to murder the deceased due to longstanding land-related disputes.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed the arrests and urged the public to avoid acts of lawlessness. He emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful means and engaging relevant authorities or local leaders instead of resorting to violence.
Maate added that once investigations are complete, the suspects will be presented before court to face charges accordingly.
