A secondary school teacher in Kabale District died in a motor vehicle accident, while 13 others were injured at Kabaraga Village, near the Fresh Food Station along the Kabale-Mbarara Road.
The deceased has been identified as Agaba Innocent, aged 40, a teacher at Kyogo Senior Secondary School in Kabale and a resident of Kakuga Village, Rutare 1, Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District. He was traveling from Kabale at the time of the accident.
Among the injured are seven male adults and six female adults, whose identities are yet to be confirmed due to their critical condition.
According to a police report, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon at around 2:30 PM and involved a white Toyota Hiace, registration number UBL 327M, which was being driven by an unidentified driver who is still at large. The vehicle was traveling from Kabale Town towards Mbarara.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, told journalists on Thursday evening that the driver lost control of the vehicle at Kabaraga Village, shortly after passing the Fresh Food Station, causing it to overturn multiple times. Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver was speeding, which led to the accident.

Police visited the scene and the body of the deceased was taken to Kabale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem, while the injured were admitted to Kabale Hospital in critical condition.
The motor vehicle was towed to Kabale Police Station, pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
