Masindi police and UPDF officers joined forces on April 9, 2025, to tackle rising criminal activities in Masindi town, resulting in the arrest of 103 suspected criminals. The operation aimed to enhance public safety and address concerns from residents about nighttime security.
According to Allan Hakiza regional police spokesperson, 103 suspected criminals, comprising of 86 men and 17 women where arrested in the operation.
Hakiza adds that 75 individuals, including all 17 women (barmaids), were cautioned and released unconditionally, 28 suspects remain in custody pending further screening and investigation.
He further says The remaining suspects will face charges for Common Nuisance and
Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities
“This operation reflects the collaborative efforts of Ugandan security agencies to maintain law and order. Similar joint operations have been successful in the past, such as the arrest of a suspect involved in the murder of an LC III Chairperson and a UPDF officer in Kotido district The public is encouraged to cooperate with security agencies to ensure community safety.”Hakiza stated .
