Police at Kisinga Sub-County Kasese district are holding Moreen
Ithungu on allegations of abortion.
The LC I chairperson of Nyabirongo I village in Kisinga in Bukonzo
East constituency, Ziribaberi Bwambale identified the suspect as
Moreen Ithungu 18 years a resident on the same village.
According to Bwambale, Ithungu forcefully aborted her four months
pregnant and dumped the fetus in a pit latrine.
Bwambale told www.mknewslink.com on phone yesterday that after discovering
that the Ithungu had aborted, she was arrested and interrogated until
she led the community members to a latrine where she had dumped the
fetus.
Police was immediately alerted and came to the rescue and ordered the
community members together with the local council chairperson to bury
the fetus and went with the suspect.
Monday Mupanda speaking at the scene yesterday told this reporter that
everyone was shocked after hearing the news that Ithungu had aborted
and dumped the fetus in the latrine.
The sub-county chairperson, Chance Kahindo warned the youth against
what he described as dubious acts adding that whoever would repeat the
same should be prosecuted into the courts of law.
Kahindo attributed the scenario to the peer pressure influence asking
parents from harassing the girls whenever they learnt that they were
pregnant.
