The inspectorate of government yesterday morning arrested the state Attorney Kabale district Mr. Edwin Mbabazi for soliciting a bribe of shs 125000/=
Mbabazi was arrested red handed receiving 125000 which was part of the 500000 he solicited from a resident of Kyanamira town council, Kabale district as an inducement to close a criminal case of trespassing.
The inspectorate of government received a complaint from a member of the public who alleged that a case of criminal trespass was reported against him at Kyanamira police station but was later transferred to Kabale Central police station
The complainant had been arrested and released on bond by Kabale police on 30th september2022.
He narrated that when he reported back to police, he was told that his case had been forwarded to the state Attorney Kabale but when he went to the state Attorney Mbabazi , the prosecutor promised to peruse through his file and get back to him on Monday 10th October 2022 using a telephone number +25678855009 and asked him to offer a bribe worth UGX500,000SHS in order to close the criminal case against him which prompted him to report the matter to Kabale Regional office for redress
The IGG Hon. Beti Kamya speaking about the matter reminded Ugandans that they are entitled to quality service delivery and should never tolerate any lousy excuses from the public officials.
