The former aspirant for Bushenyi district speakership Anthony Katwarana has revealed that he never took even a single coin from tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba in order to stand down for Burusadi Justine who worn the highly contested seat.
Katwarana noted that all the councilors who were supporting him were bought by tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba where he give an example of councilor for Ruhumuro and that for Kyabugimbi Sub Counties who took money from tycoon Hassan and he also promised them scholarships, the councilor for Ruhumuro was promised a scholarship for a Bachelors degree and that of Kyabugimbi was promised a scholarship for a masters degree all at Kamapala international university.
Katwarana visited www.mknewslink.com offices next to western meldian hotel in Bushenyi town and revealed all the above.
He said that the two above councilors were supposed to nominate him and second him but were given money by tycoon Hasan Basajjabalaba and they switched off their phones and hid themselves in Mbarara for two days.
He noted that all the 20 councilors who voted for Justine Burusadi spent two days hidden in one of the hotels in Mbarara and tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba bribed them in order to vote for Burusadi.
The 6 councilors who voted for Rwabutwagu remained in Bushenyi because they wanted clean leadership and a leader who is focused and developmental not money hungry.
Lastly, Anthony Katwarana said “I never ate money for tycoon Hassan instead I voted for Rwabutwagu and My vote is one of the six votes that he got and I want to assure the people of Nyakabirizi division and Bushenyi district in general that we did not win the sit for Bushenyi district speakership because the two councilors who were to nominate and second me were bought and hidden in Mbarara by tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba.
“No one should ever think for even a second that I was bribed, I even put an announcement on all the five Bushenyi district radio stations assuring the BanyaBushenyi that I did not eat Basaja’s money to betray Bushenyi residents” Katwarana said.
