A 32 unit staff quarter building project at Mbarara regional referral hospital  is likely to face set backs as the project  contractor encounters challenges.
A site visit by the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital management led by the hospital Director Dr.Celestine Barigye,  found out that the construction works stand at 20% though the contractor MUPA technical Services was meant to deliver the complete  project before the end of July,2022.
According Harrison Kagure the hospital Public Relations Officer ,  the  ongoing Construction of staff quarters is funded by Government of Uganda at a tune of 5.7 billion ugx.
He says the  supervisory committee led by Dr.Celestine Barigye the hospital Director Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital  is pressurizing the contractor to ensure that this work is completed in time, though the hospital has already anticipated signs of delays in line with the  completion date .
Richard Mayaja the project  consultant assured the hospital management that they are working around the clock to have the construction works done in time  despite of numerous encumbrances they encountered.
He claims that they experienced delays in commencing the construction adding that some occupants who include an army officer were reluctant to vacate the premises in time .
Mayaja also blamed the power distribution company UMEME Mbarara Branch for not acting urgently to shift the high voltage HV power line which could later affect the slab works.
According to the hospital Public Relations Officer Harrison Kagure, the hospital has been encountering difficulties in picking and dropping staff members including medics offering emergency services .
Kagure commended the Government of Uganda through the ministry of health for working towards establishing staff quarters  for medics .
More often than not ,reports have shown that lack of adequate  housing facilities remain a huge blow to most Health facilities across the country.
Apparently, a huge percentage of  staff at Mbarara regional referral hospital stay outside the facility and this somewhat causes delays to work places.
