Burundian government has started sensitization campaign to persuade all its nationals who fled out of the country due to political unrest to voluntarily return home.
Burundian minister of home affair Barandagiye Pascal together with the country’s ambassador to Uganda Jean Bosco Barege delivered the persuasive message amidst tight security to Burundian nationals living at Nakivale refugee settlement camp in Isingiro district.
In the message the ambassador said that their visit to the settlement where their nationals are staying as refugees was not meant to force and body to go back home but rather to tell them that the 2015 political unrest’s that broke out in the country are now over.
He said Burundi is now calm and all her citizens are waking up to build a peaceful and stable nation adding that it’s against such basis the government is embarking on a mission to welcome them to take part in the new political and social economic development that is seriously shaping the country (Byte—
But the message instead sparked off negative reaction from the refugees who suggested tough conditions which also irritated the minister hence forcing him to tell them that the current Burundi government can move on without them whether they like it or not ( Byte—-.
He noted that the 2015 political unrest’s should not scare them saying even developed countries in the world went through such turmoil adding that its shall always be the duty of government to tell them of the new developments in the country
