RUKUNGIRI MENTALLY ILL MAN BURNT TO ASHES IN HOUSE FIRE

In Rukungiri—

Police in Rukungiri District have mounted investigations to discover the root cause of fire outbreak that left a 44 year old man lifeless.

The deceased identified as Eric Arinitwe a resident of Nyamitooma 2 village, in Western ward Bikurungu town council in Rukungiri District was found burnt to ashes in his house.

According to Apollo Mwesigwa a relative to the deceased, he was yesterday at around 4:00am forced to move out of the house by the noise made by the goats only to find that fire had gutted the house in which the deceased stayed.

Mwesigwa added that he made an alarm and residents responded immediately, but they only managed to rescue goats which were in the house next to the deceased’s.

The area chairperson Cliff Barigye told www.mknewslink.com that the deceased had a mental illness and would sometimes set the house on fire suspecting that this could have resulted from such.

Police led by District Police Commander DPC Edwin visited the scene and parts of the body were recovered
