Rwampara district farmers were yesterday shocked after the Resident District Commissioner Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi halted the supply of piglets to farmers.
The piglets which were to be received by 56 farmers from the government under the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) were rejected by the RDC citing poor quality.
Kateera noted that the piglets were of Smaller than what was expected by famers and district officials.
He further said that as the district officials they can’t allow poor breeds of animals to be given to farmers.
Kateera advised the supplier to return the piglets back until they meet the expected size.
The RDC cautioned the district veterinary team to ensure the quality of government items before they are issued to farmers since they are facilitated by the government to do so.
