Health workers at Masindi General Hospital are stuck with the newly born dead baby whose mother abandoned on Friday after giving birth.
Simon Baguma the Masindi Hospital Administrator explains Helen Mutegeki 17 years a resident of Kijura cell in Central Division Masindi Municipality on Friday came at the hospital in labour pain, and successful delivered.
After giving birth, Mutegeki informed the health workers that she is going to buy items at the hospital canteen but didn’t report back.
The health specialist also explains they have tried their level best to look after the baby, but unfortunately it’s condition worsened, and passed on last evening.
“We have kept the body, and if any one claims it we shall hand it over, but if no one claims then we shall hand it over to the municipality authorities,” Baguma explained. In February this year, a mother also abandoned her newly borne baby in Nyangahya Division.
