In Bunyangabu—

The Electoral Commission – EC in Bunyangabu district yesterday postponed the election of district workers’ male councilors over a mismatch of photos and names of candidates.

Yesterday, different electoral colleges participated in the election of councilors representing Special Interest Groups – SGIs like the youths, Persons with Disabilities, Workers and Older persons to district councils, across the country.

But the Bunyangabu District Returning Officer Evarist Twinomujuni says the election for male councilors representing workers in the district council could not continue as planned over a mismatch of photos and names of candidates.  The EC is yet to announce another date for the election.

Twinomujuni explains that the photo of Francis Kasigazi, the National Resistance Movement – NRM party candidate, was put on the name of his competitor and independent candidate Dan Muhumuza and vice-versa.

Francis Kasigazi, the National Resistance Movement – NRM party candidate says the postponement automatically affects him financially since they will be going back to mobilize the electorate.
