Rwebikoona market vendors depend on two Private pit latrines after its 86 years of existence.

The market was established in 1934, and it is one of the public places in Mbarara city with poor sanitation.

Vendors are now worried that sanitation related diseases are likely to break out anytime.

Eliab Niwagasha, the market chairman told www.mknewslink.com reporter the market has between 700-1000 vendors who depend on only two private toilets they pay for per visit.

“There are two toilets for males and females that are not enough, we are struggling to ensure sanitation,”Eliab added

On 19th November, 2020 Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate world Toilet Day as they raise awareness of over 2.4 Billion people living without access to safety managed sanitation.

This year’s celebrations focused on sustainable and climatic change.
