High court sitting in Mbarara presided by Dr Winfred Nabisinde commenced hearing of an election petition between Hon Micheal Mawanda Maranga and Paul Martial Andrew yesterday.
The first person in a dock yesterday was Hon Micheal Mawanda who was cross examined by Martial’s lawyers for over 4 hours.
Mawanda told www.mknewslink.com editor in an exclusive interview after the high court session yesterday that he was confident that he would win the case because Martial’s lawyers were depending on lies and that he successfully answered their questions without affecting his case.
Martial’s lawyers Alex Kibandama, Mwebembezi Bingana and Ronald Tusingwire yesterday prayed to court to reject Mawanda’s digital, audio and still photos evidence.
However Justice Dr. Nabisiinde rejected pleas of martial’s lawyers and the audio, video and still photos evidence was accepted.
The case was adjourned to June 15, 2016 to continue hearing the case. Mawanda is represented by Counsel Frank Kanduho and his[MAWANDA] brother Owen Murangira.
According to legal analysts, Mawanda has better and organized lawyers than Martial Andrew. They noted that Alex Kibanda is purely a commercial lawyer whereas Mwembezi Baingana is failing to pick in election petition handling.
