BACKGROUND

Kitagata Business and Vocational Institute is established as a private education entity, and its Vision is to be a leading institution in imparting employable skills and knowledge in Uganda.

In order to achieve its vision and mission, KBVI is desirous of recruiting motivated and competent individuals to fill the following vacant positions.

 

  1. JOB TITLE: DEPUTY PRINCIPAL (1 position)

DEPARTMENT: MANAGEMENT 

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL 

DUTY STATION: KITAGATA

Job Summary: Develop and monitor systems, policies, guidelines and procedures for all the institution, and represent KBVI on all district and National education/academic matters.

Key Result Areas

  1. Keep an accurate record of all students in the institute
  2. Mobilization of students through various platforms
  3. Receive all visitors calling at the institute and, when requested, arrange for conferences between tutors and students.
  4. File, in the administrative office, all required reports.
  5. Ensuring timely accountability of institutes’ financial resources
  6. Upholding the welfare of both the student and human resource of the institute
  7. Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the Institution.
  8. Timely collection of fees dues from students
  9. Attending required committee meetings (e.g.: fund-raising, curriculum, etc.) and extra Institution sponsored functions and religious events e.g.: First Communion, end of year, Confirmation, Graduation, etc.).
  10. Maintaining positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships amongst staff, parents and students.
  11. Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the institution.
  12. Mobilization of resources from various sources for the institute.
  13. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations.
  14. Communicate with the Board regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the Institution.
  15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the management from time to time

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Honours degree in any one of the following disciplines: Business administration, Education, Agriculture and other related disciplines from a reputable organization University

Experience

  1. At least Five (5) years working experience in academic institution, (2) years of which should have been at a supervisory level.

  1. JOB TITLE: ACADEMIC REGISTRAR (1 position)

DEPARTMENT: MANAGEMENT 

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL 

DUTY STATION: KITAGATA

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACADEMIC REGISTRAR:

  1. Supervising  and evaluating tutors  on regular basis
  2. Proper alignment of institution’s curriculum with that of UBTEB
  3. Collecting, recording, maintaining and reporting of students’ records e.g., grades, registration data, transcripts, and other associated audits
  4. Registration of students respectively with UBTEB, DITand Makerere University
  5. Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology application in support of enhanced services offered through Registration and Records
  6. Develop and administer the departmental budget
  7. Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas (including before and after Institution).
  8. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
  9. Managing, evaluating and supervising effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the Institution consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the institution including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures.
  10. Performing any other tasks assigned to you by management from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

A diploma in any one of the following disciplines: Education in Agriculture, Economics, and other related areas.

Experience

At least three (03) years’ working experience of teaching in an institution, at least one (01) year of which should have been at a supervisory level.

  1. Ability to formulate strategies, policies and systems for improved services delivery.
  2. Ability to interpret UBTEB and DIT curriculum
  3. Strong Leadership and organizational skills.
  4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  5. Strong resource mobilization skills.
  6. Excellent report writing skills.
  7. Excellent customer care skills.

 

  1. JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTORS (11 POSITIONS)

REPORTS TO: ACCADEMIC REGISTRAR

DUTY STATION: KITAGATA

Instructors for the following courses are needed;

  1. National certificate in nursery teaching
  2. National certificate in secretarial and office management
  3. National certificate in information and communication technology
  4. National certificate in computer science
  5. National certificate in tourism and hospitality
  6. National certificate in public administration and management
  7. National certificate in journalism and media studies
  8. National certificate in plumbing
  9. National certificate in electrical installation
  10. National certificate in tailoring and fashion design
  11. National certificate in agriculture

 

Qualifications

Diploma in any of the disciplines listed above from a reputable University.

Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  1. At least one (01) year working experience of teaching in an institution.

Competences and Skills

  3. Communication skills.
  4. Report writing skills.
  5. Teaching skills
