In Kigezi

A section of activists in the Kigezi region have accused Uganda security organs for being partisan in the ongoing public consultative meetings by incumbent leaders ahead 2021 general Elections.

While addressing the media at Kick Corruption out of Uganda Kabale branch in Kirigime ward Kabale municipality, Robert Kakuru, the Executive director for Kick Corruption out of Uganda (KICK-U) a local NGO, said that police of Uganda are working for political party but not serving the nation.

He added that Police are being used by a few politicians to violate the freedom of MPs and citizens who oppose the leaders of ruling party.

Kakuru was also quoted saying that police of Uganda are violating human rights because every Ugandan has the right to vote, to support and freedom of expression which are all being isolated hence hampering good democracy in the country.

Dorothy Kesiime, an activist from Forum for Women in Democracy Kabale (FOWED) said that government should implore leveled ground which favors all political parties such that every Ugandan enjoys all his rights.

She added that when police continue to harass opposition side, capable leaders will not contest for fear of being rudely treated during consultative meetings and campaigns especially those in opposition parties.
