BAKONZO, BAMBA CONFLICTS: KABAROLE DISTRICT CHAIRMAN ROOTS FOR COMPULSORY PEACE AND RECONCILIATION LESSONS IN SCHOOLS

The Kabarole District chairperson Mr. Rwabuhinga Richard has revealed plans to demand Government to introduce peace and reconciliation studies on Uganda’s syllabus.

He explains that he will do everything possible to push government in order to involve reconciliation and peace studies in secondary and primary school syllabus so as to promote unity.

Rwabuhinga explained that if people are taught how to reconcile and how to promote peace, this will do away with conflicts among different families, tribes, individuals among others.

He was speaking all these to the students and residents of Karungura Sub County on the slopes of Rwenzori Mountain at the commissioning of the St. Joseph’s secondary school, constructed by shs200m presidential pledge.

The chairman revealed all these following the recent tribal clashes between the Bakonzo communities and Bamba which claimed the lives of 47 people.
He told people that he does not see as to why people should involve in such and yet Batooro, Bamba and Bakonzo share the same blood.

Rwabuhinga observed that its peace and harmony that leads to the development as well as unity among Ugandans.

He challenged students that normally engage in strikes that lead to the destruction of very many property and even squandering their time.
