In Mbarara–
The Mbarara municipal Speaker Bonny Karusya Tashobya,is in police custody for alleged attempted murder charges.
It is alleged that on Wednesday night, while in Nyamityobora ward, Mbarara municipality,Tashobya poured acid on Amos Katureebe; the LC4 councilor for Nyaityobora ward.
Katureebe was rushed to Mbarara Hospital, later to Mulago and currently admitted at Mengo Hospital in Kampala.
According to police spokes person Rwizi
sub region Samson Kasasira the victim heard a voice calling his name only to see Tashobya pouring acid on his face and chest.
Mbarara Municipal council had had challenges since Mayor Robert
Kakyebezi came to power, and currently there was a move to impeach
Tashobya from the speakership of which councilor Katureebe was the mover.
Kasasira says investigations are on going after which Tashobya will be taken to court and answer charges of attempted murder.
